so i went to the bon odori matsuri [ the one held in penang ] with a friend last saturday [ july 16th ], only to become slightly disappointed at how massively detached the event was from its japanese roots; the bon odori held there was more malaysian than it should be - especially with the [ near-absolute ] lack of japanese treats [ except for the usual sushi and okonomiyaki hurrr ] and games usually present at any matsuri - save for the stage performances and some folks wearing their yukatas. thank god however that the fireworks display at the close of it truly saved the day for me.
anyway, despite my disappointing experience with penang's take on bon odori this year, i however get to obtain some really good stuff to my greatest pleasure. and among these awesome stuff was a few volumes of the manga you see up here. and many thanks to borders penang, i now get to experience building up my [ physical ] manga collection of my own after being forced to just sit and wait for any bookstores to finally bring in some manga here in the northern states / region.
i've stated it many times before that i'm a fan of evangelion [ and most especially, a certain asuka |3 ], and this [ less mind-raeping ] alternate series was among the many manga titles i've been looking forward to start collecting on. okay, and so with that said, just a few hours into my read of this, i am now so certainly sure that my expectation aren't going to get any lesser, and again i greatly thank myself for ever having quite an interest to check over this one out.
